Representative Netball
Representative Netball provides an opportunity for players to represent Coolum Netball at a higher level. Our program provides players the opportunity to further develop, refine skills and increase fitness and performance. CDNA Representative Squads are offered a number of opportunities to Represent Coolum at Rep Carnivals, Netball Queensland’s Junior and Senior State Age Competitions and Sunshine Coast Premier League.
There are certain expectations that are placed on Players who are selected to represent CDNA, before you nominate to trial please be aware of the commitment required and ensure that you are able to commit to and abide by CDNA Rep Policies and the Netball Queensland Code of Conduct and Integrity.
To be part of the Coolum Rep Family it is essential that you are participating in a competition at CDNA. All Players that Nominate to Trial for a CDNA Representative Team must compete in the Junior (Thursday) Competition at Coolum Netball Association in Season 1 of their Representative year. U18 Players are invited to participate in either the Ladies Competition (Tuesday Evenings) or the Junior Competition. We ask our players to give it their all, leave nothing in the tank - but enjoy the journey! Playing Rep Netball is designed to develop your netball but it is also about the memories we make, the bonds we form and the lessons we learn. What is State Age?
Netball Queensland State Age Events are a major participation, community-based state competition for players representing a Netball Queensland member Association. State Age is a 4-Day Tournament that provides a unique experience, bringing together players, coaches, officials, umpires and supporters in a large-scale event showcasing talent, teamwork, and community spirit.
There are two State Age Events: one for Junior Players (aged 12-14) and one for Senior Players (aged 15-18). Netball Queensland are the governing body for these competitions and determine the Venue and Dates of both Junior and Senior State Age.
What is Senior State Age?
Senior State Age (SSA) is a four-day competition usually held over the School Holidays at the end of Term 1. This competition is open to U15, U16 and U18 players. Coolum Rep will enter a maximum of two teams in each age group. The number of teams will be determined at the discretion of the selection panel and the Rep Convenor, based on nomination numbers, player skill levels, and coach availability.
What is Junior State Age?
Junior State Age (JSA) is a four-day competition usually held over the School Holidays at the end of Term 2. This competition is open to U12, U13 and U14 players. Coolum Rep will enter the Black Team in each junior age group.
What is the Tigers Cup?
The Tigers Cup Carnival held at Metro Netball Association is an annual junior netball carnival for developing Under 11 to Under 14 representative teams. This two-day carnival held over a weekend in June (end of Term 1) gives young players the opportunity to compete against regional and metro associations, gain valuable match experience, and finish their representative season in a supportive and competitive environment. Coolum Rep will enter the Pink Teams in each junior age group in this Carnival.
Am I eligible to trial for Rep?
To be eligible to trial for a position in either SSA or JSA teams the player must play in the Thursday Junior Comp in the year of selection. Note that U18 Players are eligible to participate in alternate competitions to be eligible.
Players are required to register to trial in their age group and nominate a maximum of two preferred playing positions. Players are required to attend all trials for their age group. Players may be trialled in other positions at the discretion of the selection panel.
If a player is unable to trial due to injury you must apply in writing to our Rep Convenor outlining details of the injury and provide supporting documents. Approval is at the discretion of the Rep Convenor.
What is involved in being a Rep Player for Coolum Netball?
Being selected to represent Coolum is an important commitment. Players who are selected will be required to sign a player agreement confirming their understanding of, and commitment to, the expectations of the role. This includes attending all required training sessions and carnival competition dates, and paying any applicable fees.
Parents are also required to sign the parent conduct agreement. Any breach of these agreements may result in the player being removed from the representative program and may affect their eligibility to participate in future years.
Players and parents must also comply with NQ’s Code of Conduct and Integrity Policy, along with all Coolum Netball representative policies.
Please make sure you fully understand the commitment involved in being part of a representative team before attending trials.
How much does it cost?
Representative fees vary from year to year and depend on the location of the event and the team the player is selected for. Fees are currently estimated to be approximately $1,000 per player. This amount includes all compulsory carnivals, fitness sessions, and the player’s ticket to the presentation night. Uniform items are not included. Final fees will be confirmed before representative trials begin.
Accommodation and Travel Arrangements - State Age/Tigers Cup
Team accommodation and Travel are no longer included in Rep Fees. Families are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodation for the duration of State Age/Tigers Cup.
